Owner drawings without the guilt spiral
Irregular drawings create household tension and messy tax buffers — a calmer schedule starts with separating three pots of money.
Owners often apologise for taking money out of their own business. The guilt is less useful than a schedule. Household rent does not wait for a “good week,” and neither should a basic owner wage or drawing.
We separate three pots: operating cash, tax buffer, and owner pay. Transfers happen on named days. Surplus weeks can fund an extra drawing; thin weeks do not raid the tax pot. Your accountant still sets tax settings — our job is the cash behaviour that keeps those settings honest.
If drawings currently happen whenever the card declines at the grocery store, start with a single fixed weekly amount smaller than you hope for, then raise it after one clean GST quarter. Pride recovers faster than a depleted buffer.
